Je nach Reisestil oder Einsatz ist es ratsam, ein Insektennetz von zu Hause mitzunehmen. Wenn ein Insektennetz vom Hotel gestellt wird, sollte es sorgf\u00e4ltig auf L\u00f6cher untersucht werden. Im Zweifelsfall ist das eigene Moskitonetz zu benutzen. Selbsttragende, wie Zelte aufzubauende Netze stellen eine praktische Alternative dar, die auf jedes Hotelbett aufgestellt werden kann. Die selbsttragende Kuppelzeltkonstruktion mit Fiberglasgest\u00e4nge und Rei\u00dfverschluss wehrt zuverl\u00e4ssig M\u00fccken ab, der feste Boden Kriechtiere aller Art.\r\n5. Impr\u00e4gnierung der Insektennetze\r\nDie Effektivit\u00e4t eines Insektennetzes wird erheblich gesteigert, wenn man es mit einem insektenabt\u00f6tenden Kontaktmittel impr\u00e4gniert. Die M\u00fccken werden durch das Insektizid daran gehindert, durch das Netz in ber\u00fchrende K\u00f6rperteile zu stechen oder sich L\u00fccken im Moskitonetz zu suchen. Sobald sich eine M\u00fccke auf dem Netz niederl\u00e4sst, wird sie durch die Substanz get\u00f6tet. Kleine L\u00f6cher, die \u00fcbersehen wurden, werden so ebenfalls nicht gef\u00e4hrlich. Sehr kleine M\u00fccken wie z.B. Sandm\u00fccken k\u00f6nnen bei gro\u00dfen Maschen hindurch schl\u00fcpfen. Dieses Risiko minimieren Sie durch Impr\u00e4gnierung zus\u00e4tzlich; gleichzeitig reduzieren Sie die Insektenpopulation im Zimmer. Dadurch k\u00f6nnen Sie auch nachts gefahrfreier aufstehen.[...] Impr\u00e4gnierte Netze sollten gem\u00e4\u00df Herstellerangaben abh\u00e4ngig vom Gebrauch alle 6 bis 12 Monate neu impr\u00e4gniert werden. Klimaanlagen sollten jedoch nicht das Moskitonetz ersetzen.[....]\" (siehe: AA<\/a>)\r\n\r\nAnmerkung:\r\nDie beim MOSQUITO-SAFE verwendete Impr\u00e4gnierung ist f\u00fcr Lebewesen ungiftig \u2013 auch f\u00fcr Menschen. Es t\u00f6tet die M\u00fccken nicht, sondern h\u00e4lt sie nur fern. Die Insektenpopulation im Zimmer wird von der Impr\u00e4gnierung nicht reduziert. MOSQITO-SAFE hat ein dauerimpr\u00e4gniertes Netz und einen dauerimpr\u00e4gnierten Boden (long-lasting repellent (not insecticide) treated bed net). Die Impr\u00e4gnierung enth\u00e4lt nur einen Abschreckwirkstoff (Fernhaltewirkstoff) und kein Insektizid. Das Vorhandensein dieser Substanz h\u00e4lt die Insekten von den behandelten Bereichen fern, ohne Toxizit\u00e4t oder Umweltauswirkungen. The protective function of bed nets for preventing malaria remains undisputed. The malaria mosquito species most commonly distributed in many African high-risk areas shows the highest bite activity after midnight, when the effect of a contact repellent you used in the evening before going to bed may already be diminished. Bed nets are even recommended for accomodations with insect nets in the windows, since malaria mosquitos may enter the house in another way, which can never be excluded. If you need to lie down during the day, mosquito nets are highly suitable against diurnal bloodsucking insects […] In order to be prepared for all cases, mosquito nets are a highly recommendable travel accessory. Depending on the way you travel or where you go – taking your own insect protection net from home is recommended. If you are provided an insect protection net by your hotel, make sure there are no holes in it. When in doubt, use your own mosquito net. Self-supporting nets that are set up like tents are a practical alternative, and can be used on any kind of hotel bed. Self-supporting dome-shaped tents, with fibreglass poles and zippers, provide reliable protection against mosquitos, the firm material of the bottom protects from all kinds of crawlers.
5. Impregnation of insect nets
The efficiency of an insect net is considerably increased if it is impregnated with a contact insecticide that prevents mosquitos from biting body parts in direct contact with the mesh material or to search for gaps in the net. As soon as a mosquito lands on the net, the substance kills it immediately. Small holes that may have been overlooked cease to be dangerous. Very small flies like sandflies may even slip through coarser mesh material. By impregnating your mosquito net you can minimize this risk, and at the same time, you reduce the insect population in the room. This also minimizes your risk if you need to get up at night. […] Impregnated nets should be re-treated according to the manufacturer’s instructions and depending on their usage every 6 to 12 months. By now, long-lasting insecticide treated bed nets are available, too.[…] Air conditioned rooms are less dangerous, since mosquitos tend to avoid lower temperatures and become “lazy to bite”. Air conditioners should never be considered as a replacement for a mosquito net, though. [….]” (see: GFO<\/a>)<\/p>\n
The impregnation used for the MOSQUITO-SAFE tent is non-toxic for all living things – humans included. It doesn’t kill the mosquitos, it just keeps them away. The insect population in the room is not reduced by this kind of impregnation.
